NON CANE ACCESS ROADS (FARM ROADS)


ABOUT THE PROGRAMME

The objective of the programme is to assist rural and maritime farmers in the construction and upgrading of new and existing farm roads to unleash economic potentials and encourage agro-based income generating activities.
The projects under this programme are fully funded by the Government.

CRITERIA OF SELECTION
All applicants must fill the required form available at the Divisional and District Offices;
All projects are to be part of the village or settlement development plan for the next financial year;
Road must be for agro-related commodities other than sugar cane in the rural areas;
Applicants should have adequate volume of crops that are already being planted and expected outputs to justify assistance; and
Provision of assistance is based on Ministry of Agriculture or other relevant Ministries assessment and recommendations (the assessment report will be directly submitted to PA’s office).

APPROVAL PROCESS
1. All duly completed project proposals forms are to be received by the PA’s and DO’s no later than 30th February for consideration in the next financial year;
2. Provincial Administrators and District Officers will vet all proposals to ensure all information is captured;
3. PA’s and DO’s will submit consolidated list to District and/or Provincial Development Board for discussion;
4. The short list endorsed by the Provincial Development Board will then be submitted to the Division Commissioners for final consideration; and
5. Applicants will be advised on/before the 30th of June of the following year on the results of their application.

TYPE OF ASSISTNACE OFFERED
The type of assistance offered under this programme includes upgrading work which involves grading, leveling and gravelling other maintenance work to improve the road condition.

APPLICATION FORMS
Interested applicants are required to fill in the standard application form. The Application should be completed in triplicate, one copy to be retained by the Applicant and two copies to be submitted to the Provincial Administrator in your province no later than 15th February for consideration in the new budget year. Any Application lodged direct to HQ in Suva will be re-directed to the District Office. It is a criminal offence to provide false information or declaration.
