Minister Ditoka meets UNRC

SUVA  — Minister for Rural and Maritime Development and Disaster Management Hon. Sakiasi Ditoka held a productive meeting with the United Nations Resident Coordinator (UNRC), Mr. Dirk Wagener in Suva on September 29.

The meeting provided an opportunity for the two leaders to engage in discussions covering a wide range of topics.

During the meeting, Minister Ditoka expressed his sincere appreciation for the ongoing collaboration between the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Fiji Government in their shared mission to implement climate-resilient developments in rural and maritime communities across Fiji. This collaborative initiative is a testament to the commitment of both organisations to ensure that development projects are resilient and well-prepared for potential disasters.

He emphasised the significance of the strong partnerships and collaboration that have been instrumental in addressing the concurrent challenges faced by the nation.

Hon. Ditoka also provided an overview of the Ministry’s rural development priorities and highlighted areas where there is significant potential for collaboration with the United Nations. These discussions underscore the commitment of the Fiji Government to enhance rural development initiatives and create lasting positive impacts in rural communities.

The meeting between Minister Ditoka and the UNRC was marked by a spirit of cooperation and a shared commitment to advancing sustainable development goals and disaster resilience in Fiji.
