HIGH PRIORITY SANITATION PROGRAMME

OVERVIEW
About 30.5% of rural households use high risk sanitation in Fiji. This is equivalent to 25,387 households or 102,996 people in a household of 4 people.
The High Priority Sanitation Programme was initiated to help with the construction of flush toilets to the vulnerable communities in the rural areas.
ASSISTANCE PROVIDED
The Programme assistance shall cover:
- The construction of a single shelter flush toilet.
GRANT SCALE
- The minimum cost of the project that can be funded by Government under this Programme is $2,000.00
- The maximum Government contribution that can be funded under this Programme is below $7,000.00
WHO IS ELIGIBLE?
- Projects which “specifically” benefit older persons, persons living with disabilities (PWD) and single mothers
- Community with available water sources
Additional Requirement:
- Request must be from community members in the rural areas
COMMUNITY CONTRIBUTION
Community Contribution shall include:
- Labour
- Local Resources such as: river gravel, river sand and timber
DOCUMENTS REQUIRED
- Request from the Individual Community members
- Confirmation and Support letter from Turaga Ni Koro (TNK) or District Advisory Councilor (DAC) member
- Land consent
- Health Officials Report
- Report from Water Authority of Fiji (WAF)
